Eyu-Ethiopia Provides Free Cataract Surgery Services

In collaboration with the Amhara Regional Health Bureau, Eyu-Ethiopia provided cataract surgery and other eye care services in Medina City, Argoba Special District of South Wollo Zone.

The service reached local and surrounding community members suffering from cataracts, glaucoma, and other eye problems. A total of 120 people received cataract surgery, of whom more than 38% were women. In addition, more than 530 people received treatment with eye drops, with over 33% of the beneficiaries being women.

Patients and their families expressed their happiness after their vision was restored. Many shared that they previously had to travel to Boru Meda General Hospital to receive treatment, which was difficult due to transportation and other costs. They said this was the first time such life-changing eye care services were available in their district and expressed their deep gratitude to Eyu-Ethiopia.
