Following an 18 months of cohort data collection on persistent trachoma in Ethiopia, the behavioral study component of the ATIRA Project was successfully conducted.
Data collectors received comprehensive training before fieldwork. Using a mixed-methods approach including structured observations, in-depth interviews, behavioural surveys, and social network analysis the study aims to examine how household wash practices and high-intensity physical contact among children may contribute to the continued transmission of ocular Chlamydia trachomatis. The findings will provide valuable insights to support more effective trachoma prevention and control strategies.
