Eyu-Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Central Ethiopia Region Federation of Associations of Persons with Disabilities, conducted a comprehensive training program in Butajira City for persons with visual impairments and other disabilities, their assistants, and special needs teachers.

The training focused on disability rights and legal frameworks, inclusive education practices, and the roles and responsibilities of institutions in ensuring equitable access to education, healthcare, and public infrastructure for persons with disabilities. It also emphasized building self-confidence, resilience, and empowerment by encouraging participants to believe in their abilities and overcome challenges.

As part of the initiative, Eyu-Ethiopia provided participants with assistive devices and educational materials tailored to their individual needs. These included white canes, mobile phones, Braille paper, slates and styluses, crutches, and other assistive tools to support their education, mobility, and daily lives.

Participants described the training as informative, practical, and empowering. They particularly appreciated the inclusion of their assistants in the program, noting that it would strengthen communication, collaboration, and mutual understanding. They also expressed that the assistive devices and learning materials would improve their independence, educational opportunities, and ability to participate more actively in society.

Mr. Shelemu Abute, President of the Federation, expressed gratitude to Eyu‑Ethiopia and called on other institutions to strengthen inclusive services.
